Each year Boys State alumni volunteered over a combined 8500 hours during the week of the program, some traveling from as far as the west coast. They come from a diverse field of professions including public servants, soldiers, lawyers, businessmen, economist, professors and engineers.
James Fletcher (Fletch) is a 13 year veteran of the Boys State program. He is a 2011 graduate of The College of the Holy Cross, where he was the captain of his NCAA Division I Cross Country & Track teams, and earned a Masters in Public Health from the Tufts University School of Medicine in 2013. He is an educator and public policy advisor, and also works in scholastic development at Marathon Sports. He has worked on and managed multiple political campaigns, including campaigns for Governor and State Senate, and was a candidate for City Council in Woburn in 2013. Mr. Fletcher is currently the Boys & Girls Cross Country and Track Coach at Woburn Memorial High School, and was the 2017 Boston Globe Girls Indoor Track Coach of the Year.

John J. Brady
John Brady (“JB”) is an executive coach, keynote speaker and frequent media source on matters related to corporate and career performance. Mr. Brady’s current and recent clients span the U.S. and the U.K., including senior managers and executives of Goldman Sachs, GE, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Apple, Shell, Aramark, Fidelity, AstraZeneca, Comcast, IBM, UBS, Chubb, Willis Towers Watson, Thomson Reuters, and the Federal Government of the United States, among others.
Mr. Brady is a veteran of the education, banking, and technology sectors. He holds a B.S. in English Education, and an M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration; both from the School of Education at Boston University, and an M.B.A. from the Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College which recognized him as a Distinguished Alumnus in 2006.

Tim French (“Tim”) is originally from West Newbury, MA. He graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2002. He then attended Yale University for graduate school, earning an M.S. (2003) and Ph.D. (2007) in Chemistry with a specialization in chemical physics. From 2008-2012, he taught introductory physics for pre-meds and physical chemistry lab at Harvard University. In 2012 he moved to Chicago, IL, to join the faculty at DePaul University in Chicago, IL, as a chemistry professor.

Kevin Rocco Ward
Kevin Rocco Ward is a Production Manager at CBS News in New York. He is responsible for large scale special events globally for the news networks including events such as the funeral for President George H.W. Bush, Senator John McCain, multiple Hurricanes, The Parkland school shooting, and Super Bowl 53. He is a graduate of Saint Anselm College where he majored in Communication. Kevin grew up in Canton, MA and attended Canton High School. Kevin lives in New York city on the Upper East Side.

Dan Peterson is a 2013 graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy who is an Operational Engineer with Shire Pharmaceuticals. Raised in Foxboro he is a graduate of Xavierian Brothers High School. In his spare time he enjoys hiking, traveling, snowboarding, riding his motorcycle, and going to Fenway Park. Boys State ‘08 he was a Town Moderator as well as Speaker of the House.

J. is a 2015 graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology in Computer Networking. He is currently working in the Information Technology field in the Boston area. In his spare time he enjoys trying new foods, traveling, hiking, and keeping up with the latest technologies.

Jeff is a 2016 graduate of Bridgewater State University where he received Bachelor’s Degrees in Information Systems Management and Economics. He is currently a Project Manager on the Customer Optimization Team at the cloud-based Unified Communications Company Fuze. Raised in Norton Massachusetts Jeff is a graduate of Southeastern Regional High School in South Easton Massachusetts. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching football and going to as many Boston Red Sox games as he can.

Jimmy Myatt is economic consultant, supporting expert testimony in complex antitrust litigation and mergers. He received his Ph. D. in Economics from Northwestern University in 2018. He also holds an M.A. in Economics from Northwestern and a B.S. from New York University in Economics and Mathematics. He is an alumnus of Milford High School.
While he is now based in Chicago, he returns to Massachusetts every year to volunteer at Boys and Girls State. He enjoys racing sailboats and playing hockey. And, of course, he is still a Boston sports fan.

Responsibilities: Dean of Economics
Matthew Parent is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the University of Connecticut, studying military technology and international relations. He holds an MA in Political Science from UConn (2015), a Graduate Certificate in Human Rights from UConn (2015), an MA in World Politics from the Catholic University of America (2012), and a BA in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts (Amherst; 2010). He is published in the Journal of Intelligence and National Security, and online at War on the Rocks. Matt has also taught coursework on international relations, security studies, and international organizations at UConn and Clark University. In his spare time, Matt enjoys playing instruments, working with marching bands, traveling, and playing videogames.
